About me

Rebecca Walker

Rebecca Walker, Midwife.

Born and raised in the woods of Northern MN I spent my days playing in the mud, mixing concoctions, sitting by the river, swimming in the lakes and climbing trees. I was the only girl in my family surrounded by three boys. That gave me a fighting spirit and a will to survive. I loved to sit with my cats as they gave birth, I loved children and started babysitting when I was 10. My grandmother, who lived a mile down the road, was my best friend. She taught me how to grow food, preserve food and have fun playing games. My first barbie pillow was from her prosthetic breast. We made do where we needed to. I had no idea at the time, but the skills she taught me would be the foundation to not only midwifery, but herbalism, health and beyond.

I still enjoy being in my garden growing my food, grounding myself in the woods or in the lake. I gather most of my own herbs and mushrooms each summer. I have a farm, which was another learning curve leading me toward midwifery. I would sit and watch the sheep give birth and wonder why humans “can’t” birth so easily. Then I found a midwife and learned, humans can! I try to walk the earth with a little more peace every day. I believe our path to peace and healing never ends. I walk where I need to, with those I align with. I know when it is time to stay and when it is time to go, without shame or regret.

I am independent of the government. I believe in making my own decisions and having my own autonomy. I govern myself as I believe we all should. I homeschooled our children who are grown now. I believe we can all do what is best for us without someone giving us permission, caring for each other in the process.

I love the teachings of Yeshua. I run from religion. God is inside all of us if we look. God tears down walls. There is no fear in God, only love.  Fear is far from where wisdom starts and where manipulation thrives. Love never needs to weaponize itself. Fear will destroy your birth and your life. Fear baths your baby in horror and stress. Fear is what makes hospitals rich. Most women would be better off birthing in a river by themselves than in a hospital. Who you invite into your birth space matters. Birth is a psychedelic experience that will change you for life. You will never forget your birth or how people treated you during that time. I believe fear has no place during pregnancy, birth and postpartum time. However, if there is something concerning you, we need to tease it apart and see what we can do about it. Worry will get you nowhere and will be counterproductive of where you need to go with this baby.

I believe in the wisdom of our elders. We can learn from them, both good and bad. I believe we are always learning, growing and changing if we choose to. I believe in wonder and trying to understand why things work the way they do; move the way they do. I believe we can heal our bodies and minds outside of the medical industrial complex (hospital) in most cases and that they should be the last resort when needed. Midwives do not give medical advice. Birth is not a medical event, but a normal, physiologic ceremony that deserves respect. The medical industrial complex is not built on trusting you, educating you or true connection. Midwives cares about you personally, what you want and what your goals are.

I believe in women and their power. Women bring life. God chose women to bring life on earth. I believe women will heal the world. I believe peace on earth starts with a peaceful birth. I believe women are powerful, fierce, strong, bold, wise, trustworthy and brave. I believe in a women’s power and their right to birth where, when and with whom they choose. Period. I trust women. I trust women’s intuition. I trust their mind, body and soul. Birth is a teacher. It will break us, reshape us and make us pull ourselves back together in a new way. Every birth changes you. Women need to care for themselves and be cared for by the people surrounding her or she and her baby will suffer. Nutrition, physical, mental and emotion health matters as well as the father’s health.

Our bodies are designed to give birth. However, how we pour into that and what we do to help that design can make or break us. This is why Nutrition and movement are necessary. I believe our bodies were created to birth; however, we live in a world that has many pollutants, microplastics, environmental stress, etc. Our bodies tend to need more care now than ever before. You should not worry or fear about these things but mitigate them and do the best you can to stay healthy and nourish your body. Standard food just is not enough these days.

I believe in good, honest communication. Ask me anything and I will tell you what I think, where I have been and what I have seen. I do not gate keep; I do not keep secrets. We will have hard conversations, and I will push you to question all that you know so you can make a truly informed decision and move toward growing and healing yourself. I am holistic, open minded, honest, down to earth and straight forward. I do not mess around with B.S. and once and awhile I swear. I am passionate, loyal and will fight for your rights. I am not perfect, and I will apologize as needed.

Understand, I am not God. I do not control any situation or any outcome. I bring skills to the table, but I do not determine who dies and who lives. Noone does. Life and death are part of the birth process and the human experience. We all live, and we all die at some point. People who trust their bodies, their babies, the birth process and God trust birth. I support people who understand and want autonomy, authority, and their human rights.

I want to be radically ethical. I want to support people who have the same values and way of life as me so that we understand each other and the importance of herbs, nutrition, homeopathy, body work, mental emotional work and how these things effect the body and the birth process.  As a midwife I sit with women and watch them in their power, encourage them, remind them of their power, hold space for them when they break and need to feel safe and held. I push them to go deeper, trust them to do it, move when I need to, help women connect and center themselves. I will continue to remind you that this is your body, your baby, your pregnancy and birth. I want to empower you and remind you every step of the way that it is your choice and your decisions to make. When you get to the birth you will not look to me for permission, but to guide me as to what you need at that moment.

I serve families who understand normal physiologic birth. People who understand birth changes you forever. Birth is hard work for a reason. Hard work now prepares us for years of hard work raising children. I serve those who know healing past traumas is a must before birth. Healing comes in waves and steps. The first step to healing is acknowledging it needs to happen. I work with people who Trust their intuition, their bodies, their babies and the birth design and ceremony. I work with people who have autonomy over themselves and the responsibility that carries. I work with people who know they are a Sovern being and who own their power. I work with awake people who are constantly transforming themselves and are not kept in a loop of fear, control or people pleasing. I work with people who build community, who are on the same frequency of truth, healing and remembrance with heart centered calibration.

I heal myself and maintain my health with gardening, gathering herbs, homeopathy, food, Vitamins, minerals, love, the Earth, swimming, Cranial Sacral therapy and myofascial release, chiropractic, massage therapy, Muscle testing, frequency healing, Therapy, Journaling, Books, Dance, good friends, plant medicine, good orgasmic sex, and forgiveness.

I believe you deserve someone who you align with and feel comfortable and connected to in order to birth in the best possible way for you. In order for me to live in full alignment with myself and my beliefs, as well as give you optimal support, I need to work with those who align with me as well, which is why I am sharing who I am with you. I look forward to serving the community that aligns with me. If you align with these statements, let’s talk more. The conversation should never stop. Education without the heart is no education at all. I will push you to take radical responsibility, to educate yourself, trust yourself, honor yourself, heal yourself, emotionally regulate yourself, be honest with yourself, trust your body, trust your baby and God in the entire process to come out a new woman on the other side. I believe we die to ourselves in birth and come out a new person. It is extremely important who we choose to surround ourselves with during the entire process, including the healing afterword and rebuilding of ourselves. This includes the midwife you choose.
